In just a few days students in the Red Hook School District will be heading back to school. This would be a good time to look over the School Calendar and note important days such as open house and school closing.
It is also a good time to take note of changes to the school bus schedule. Because of hurricane Irene, modification was made to the following routes due to road and bridge closures.
- Linden Avenue Middle School and Red Hook school bus routes 13,14.15 and 19
- Mill Road School bus routes 3,6, 15 and 16
If your child is on one of these bus routes you should contact the transportation department at 845-758-2241 ext. 3262 for updates. Keep in mind that information regarding transportation is not posted on the School District website for security reasons.
So students when you head back to school on September 7th make it a great school year.

Jennifer-Linden Ave Middle School looks the way all schools used to look. Now I guess designers and architects get points for being more "creative". Since we have population growth, new schools are going up every year in our largest cities and all of the schools look different. Nothing wrong with that, it is just an interesting change. Maybe its because I'm older but I appreciate the "old school" look.
Hi Jennifer, I agree with Wayne that Linden Ave Middle School does look like my old High School from the sixties. Kids here have already started back to school two weeks ago. Great job of shouting this news out to the parents in your community.
Hi Jennifer!~
As a former schoolteacher, I was so interested to see the physical buildings...now I am wondering if these buildings are "greening-up" for energy efficiency??
Wayne I too have a fondness for some of the older buildings; but things just don't stand still in this world :)
Jerry I too like seeing the various school architecture, and the design of some of the older schools appeals to me.
JaneAnne -Great question. I know Red Hook is big on going green but I have not checked into what the schools are doing, so now it is on my list :)
