An unconventional way to keep cool during the dog days of summer

These dog days of summer calls for unconventional ways to keep cool.  Here are some of the usual conventional methods you should not ignore.

  • Keep hydrated
  • were loose fitting and light color clothing
  • Stay out of the sun
  • eat food that keeps you cool
  • Avoid alcohol
  • Stay in air condition if possible
  • go swimming in a pool, lake etc

Then there are the unconventional methods.  The one I would like to share is to change your mindset, don't focus on the heat think cool.   To help you achieve this goal here are some Hudson Valley Winter Scenes.

Jennifer, Great advice!  I would add to the clothing recommendation to make sure the clothes you wear are of a natural fabric, like cotton or linen, that allow your skin to breathe. Man made fibers hold the heat in.

Jennifer, It sure is hot. Whenever I step out I keep a water bottle nearby and whenever outside around the home I will cool off occasionally with a garden hose. Cool water whether it's a drink or a splash is always refreshing. Stay cool my friend!

Jennifer on days like today nothing seems to work except standing right in front of the air conditioner.

We are trying to think cool on this warm day in Maryland.  We also have an air quality alert for the day in Montgomery County.

 Life is good!

Jeanne you are so right natural fiber is one one should be wearing in the heat.

Carol way to go.  Even when I do these things I still tend to get dehydrated.  I actually went out on a showing on one of the hot days, major mistake.

Kat we all have to exercise caution in this type of a weather condition.

Karen it changed my mindset.  Hope you had fun with your photos.

George i know what you mean.

Roy glad we made it through, and I am sure you are also back down in the 80's.
