Wordless Wednesday-Take a ride on the rail

Take a ride on the railRail Cart

For sometime now I have wanted to get a shot of these abandon rail cars, I even got close once but the battery in my camera was dead.

So I was delighted when my husband came home with this shot recently. Location just outside Kingston NY

Jennifer - this is an excellent photo. You feel a bit sad looking at this abandoned railroad car.

Hi Jennifer - that is an artistic photo too.  There must be a story that goes with these old cars.  Do you know it?

Jennifer, if railroad cars could talk. I'm guessing those old cars have been home to some critters at some point!  Great photo!

Jon I know what you mean.   I so prefer to see these carts in operation.   I wonder if this could be restored?  I know in the Catskill they have been restoring some of the rail lines and using these for sightseeing especially in the fall.

Susan I am sure there is a story but I don't know what it is.   It would be nice to find out.

These probably can never be used for actual rolling stock anymore. The refurb work and the "need" to bring them "up to safety codes" would blow the price through the roof.

Might make a nice Diner, though. Land based, of course.

Dear Jennifer -
Imagine when they were fresh and new and moving along!
Not to be running stock again except if a very special use were determined.
Did you see the special about tourist trains?
Have a happy day -

What a delight!  I would have been mad if my camera ran out of batteries too!!!  :)

Very nice shot. I recently saw pictures of a very nice home built out of shipping containers. Wonder if you could do a railroad car home.

Great photograph.  It is always a good idea to have a camera in hand for those special moments.

That's an astonishing photo that transports the mind back in time, Jennifer.  And I hate that having a dead battery at the wrong time thing with cameras:-)

The rails were so grand. How many stories this rail car could tell.  Wouldn't it be fun to know.  Like the picture Jennifer!

Jennifer, that railroad car looks like it has been in the middle of no where for a long time.

Jennifer, My dad was a fan of trains, and used to take us to see them....his favorites were steam engines.  Nice picture, but someone needs to keep the graffiti off!
