It must be cold outside wouldn't you say?

It must be cold outside wouldn't you say?  I can't remember the last time I have seen icicles this big in Rhinebeck.  You are probably thinking this must be Jennifer's igloo, well it is not.

Many of the homes I have seen in the last few days do have icicles and that is to be expected since all the trees are also covered.

So what are the best practices for removing icicles?

Oh by the way don't stand under the icicle and hit it at the same time.  I tried that and almost got hit in the head :)

So here is one memory of the 2011 winter season.

Icicles

Jennifer I just love your picture... It is very COLD outside on Long Island too. The weather man is saying Monday will be the COLDEST it has been in 6 years.

Jennifer, I have some good ones too. I took a broom and knocked them down, but they keep coming back! There are some very impressive ones around town here, I want to get pictures but there is no place to stop with all the snow on the sides of the roads!

They look wicked and dangerous! 50f here last two days. Winter though is a long way from bing over and we will often get some of our worst weather in February. Hope not!

Jennifer - Those icicles create a gorgeous picture.  However, I understand they can be almost deadly if they break off and hit someone.

Oh, Jennifer!  Your icicles are totally amazing.  and I thought it was really cold down here.

Posted by Patricia Kennedy (Evers & Company Realtors) over 1 year ago

Hi Jennifer... WOW!  Remember to always knock to icicles away from you and not towards anything they might damage when they fall!

Jennifer they can be beautiful, but they can also ruin your whole day if you are standing under them at the wrong time. :)

Patrick yes very big.

Donna it is cold, so make sure to stay warm.

Andrea I am having the same problem, I see some amazing shots but can't stop to take them.

Herb I hope this is the worst.

Myrl so true especially the pointy ones.  I barely escape getting hit yesterday.

Pat tonight is suppose to be worst, I can't wait for all this to clear out of here :)

Steve I learn my lesson:)

George I almost found out :)

Hi Jennifer,

Wow, what a sight, I've never seen anything like that before. We keep hearing how cold it is back there and I think of you and my others friends when I hear it.

Our Jan. has been mixed, cold at first but absolutely bright and sunny, mid-70's since last week.

Lynda right now I would be happy with 30 degrees.  It has been a real old fashion winter.  Wish I could ship you some of the icicles:)

Lori they sure can.  The ones in the photos have been knocked down.

Deb spring would be  welcomed.

Gita thank you.  It would be nice if it is unusually warm in February

Hi Jennifer.  It's been a long time since I've seen the real thing.  I did see snow on the Hawaii mountaintops last week while dressed in shorts and T-shirt.

Jennifer, Those icicles look like they are really big.  And although they are pretty they can be very dangerous.  I'm glad that you are being careful around them.

Posted by Gary Coles Latin America Real Estate (Venture Realty International) over 1 year ago

They are beautiful.  We are enjoying looking at them here too but I get very nervous around them!

I was out today and it actually felt "balmy" to me.  LOL

Jennifer, while beautiful, I do have to say I'm glad they are there and not here in Arizona.
