I am sure as a kid you were told not to look directly at the sun and with good reason, it could damage your eyes. This advice is also true for adults.
On the day I took this shot I saw the shining sun and was also captivated by the clouds, this scene was right over one of my favorite spot the Hudson River.
Okay I listened to the advice, I took an aim put look the other way.

Yes I heard the same advice, but couldn't resist a peek anyway. They were right, it didn't feel good! Your photo is lovely though and seems to have an inspirational quality to it. Are your eyes still okay? :)
Susan I aimed the camera in one direction and looked the other way, so yes the eyes are okay :)
You aimed it in the right direction, what a beautiful picture!
Hi Jen,
Wow what a spectacular shot, absolutely beautiful!
And it was soooo good speaking with you recently, hope to continue to connect. I'd love to refer you in any way possible.
It's like the sky and sun are singing HALLELUJAH
That is a really cool picture. Those rays are amazing. Love it.
Jennifer the picture is beautiful and quite a capture with those rays..
Jennifer,
Good guess about where to aim the camera. Great shot and exposure. :)
Steve
Jennifer, that sun is even super bright in the picture. Great shot as always.
Jennifer,
Congratulations. This post is now featured on "Speechless Sundays." :)
Steve
That is a great picture. If you stare at it long enough you feel like you are actually staring at the sun.
Jennifer,
I can't figure how you made this shot. Usually when I do it, the foreground comes darn dark, and in your photo it is normal, and you can see the green leaves. If I would over expose to bring the foreground, I would have all whitened on the background. Of course, I could use a flash light, but no flash light would adequately cover the foreground.
So, how did you do it?
WOW...this photo of the sun and surroundings just dazzled me...and it's almost midnight!
Another great photo, heavenly photo, very inspiring and beautiful, thank you
Dee It was such a beautiful day and I wanted to capture as much of it as I could.
Lynda Glad you liked the shot. I too was delighted to speak with you and we will stay in touch.
Carla That is a great way to look at it.
Debbie I am so glad you like it. I try to feature photographs that appeals to me in some way.
Diane I was rather please with the result.
Steve You are right, it was just a guess. This type of shot is not easy.
George I was so delighted with the outcome.
Steve Thank you, it is appreciated.
Michael you are so right and went back and stared at it and I could see what you mean.
John It just happened. I am a point and shoot type of a photographer,I love to capture moments. If I had to figure out how to setup the camera I would not have the opportunity to capture those moments. The only thing I did differently was pointing the camera in one direction and looking in the other direction to avoid looking at sun. I love my Kodak easy share.
JaneAnne It really is one of those photo you could come back to over and over.
Brian I am delighted you found this photo appealing.
I know we aren't supposed to gaze at the sun. Yet, it is scenes like you have captured in this picture that makes one want to occassionally. Nice photo, Jennifer!
Hey Jennifer, what a great photo you have captured through the clouds and framed by the trees, love it!
That's a great shot for not looking. Are you telling the truth?
Great shot, I was also told not to look directly into the sun as a child...as it will blind you
Such a beautiful picture Jennifer!
What a great photo Jennifer! That's one to blow up and frame, or use for your desktop wallpaper.
Wow you are talented. I can barely get a good shot when I'm looking through the camera lens - this is a great shot, especially considering you were looking the other way when taking it!
