The other day I was having breakfast with my husband in a diner when I suddenly had the impulse to pop a quarter into the juke box and let the music play. Mark you, I have never used one of these machines before.
My husband immediately sensed that one of my impulsive moments was about to become reality, and emphatically said no to this.
I did not give up. Immediately, I asked wouldn't you like some Ray Coniff music with breakfast?
Of course, the answer was no, and he added that the other customers wouldn't want it either.
Really, I can't be the only one who has had such an impulse right?

Hmmm he said no? Let me smack him for you! ;) I've seen them, played them and enjoyed them :)
Why have a jukebox with no music playing?? I would have put the quarter in!! And I would have wagered a bet with hubbie. "Watch, I'll put a quarter in and pick a song, and I'll bet there will be someone else who will do the same thing right after me!" :-)
Jukebox is there I would think it was your choice !...:0)

Jennifer....Ray Conniff? Were you there with my father? Good for you!
Liz they never seem to play the juke box in the diners I have been to, it is just there as a reminder of the past.
Carla I should have gotten the party started:)
Hannah I think he was more concern that the music might disturb other customers.
Larry I don't think the choice got any better :)
I love the old jukeboxes.. and yes, I have had that impulse and I have acted on it! The funny part is that others followed suit and we enjoyed some "oldies but goodies". Music impulses are Always good impulses! Hope you go to exercise yours.
Jennifer,
These machines are full of fun, I have seen great old machines on North Pole that are amazing, or like the shrek movie !
Hi Jennifer,
Jukebox? Now you're talking about my era here. I remember them well.
Jennifer, I'm with you if a jukebox is there then it is there to be played.
OMG - just how young are you? To not have used a jukebox? It's music LONG before the ipod. It's the best!!
LOL. It's been such a long time since I've used one of those. And, I remember as a kid loving to flip through the song selections. I can't believe this was the first time or you. That is so funny. Good for you following your impulse.
Jennifer - I love places that are retro 1950ish. We have a Casper's Hamburger place here in the Greater Sacramento Region, as well as Mel's Diner, which continue the theme. I'm looking at your photo and notice the little jukebox is advertising that it has the "latest" technology - STEREO. "Mono" - a word from the past:-)
I definitely would have dropped the quarter into the machine when he was not looking:)
Jennifer - I remember having so much fun flipping through all the songs and arguing about which song to play first!
Jennifer - Music is the one thing that unites the world. I don't see the harm in playing the jukebox to wake people up and I guarantee you it would be an ice breaker. You may have made new friends that day! My dentist has a juke box in his waiting room. They call him the Rockin' Doc.
Hi Jennifer... what a great childhood memory for me. As kids, my brother and I used to love going to the diner with my folks and playing with those juke boxes!
Hi Jennifer - I get the same erge too when I am in one of local diners. Glad you indulged!
