For some reason I believe looking at pictures of water will somehow make me feel cooler.
If you have not heard about the heat wave in the Northeast you must be on another planet.
To make things worse, it has not rained. Lawn? what's that ? it is now a brown mess. No amount of water can save it now.
How about the lush garden in bloom just a week ago? Gone!
Okay, so the heat is getting to me but here are a couple of heat wave survival tips:
- Drinks lots of water to keep hydrated.
- Cool your car down before getting into it. Remember it will be a lot hotter in there.
- Wear light clothing.
- Check on seniors and pay attention to the pets.

Jennifer, Okay I will quit complaining about all this rain. I think you have our weather and we have yours.
lol ... it's hot here in the NW, but not as bad as you guys are facing...
Hi Jennifer-
We have been blessed to have some rain. My heart goes out to you . Heat and dryness can really dampen the spirits and cause an awful lot of trouble!
--Sara in San Antonio
Oh God, yes, Jen. I'm dying over here in CT. This is what you call lazy weather...need lots of water, indeed.
Crazy weather! Looks like you guys are getting our standard weather for this time of year and we are getting drizzle and overcast. I WANT OUR HOT WEATHER BACK PLEASE! We pay big bucks in Cali for that kind of weather!
Marchel the rain would be so welcomed here. Heat is not my friend.
Lori the only way I can describe this heat is: brutal
Sara please send some of the rain my way. This weeks I had several cancellations because of the weather.
William sounds like we might get a shower this weekend.
Stephanie I would be happy to pack it up and Fed EX it to you :) I just don't cope well with this weather.
Jennifer,
Beautiful photos and great advice!
Jennifer, great tips! We're hoping that you get some relief from the heat and soon!
My lawn is a beautiful shade of brown but I must admit I love the hot weather:)
Jennifer, I heard on the news that 103 with the humidity is really like 115 degrees -- far too hot! Take care and I hope it cools down a bit for all of you very soon!
I have been watching the news about your area, I hope you get some relief soon. Stay cool.
I've been seeing the reports on TV about your heatwave! I hope it breaks soon. Great advice you've included!
You're right, looking at pictures of water does seem to cool you down. Then again, I guess it depends on what kind of water. A picture of the beach makes me feel a bit sweaty, but that's a good thing.
Jennifer, at this point I need pics of snow and ice to keep cool. I think I will change my desktop to a winter scene. The humidity kicked in big time today and it is so uncomfortable! :-(
But I figure it could always be worse, so I am not complaining too much! :-)
Jennifer You could also jump in the pond or at least dangle your feet off the raft
Jennifer we are suppose to get rain this weekend, so maybe that will put a little green back into the lawns.
Jennifer everything is soo brown here too. Everything crunches underfoot. I can't wait for some rain. I may regret that later if we get too much but right now we need it badly.
Jennifer,
Don't know where those water shots were taken, but they are beautiful - and cool looking. Sorry about your drought. :)
Steve
Hi Jennifer... water never makes me feel cooler, but it does make me feel refreshed somehow!
Good luck Jennifer. RAIN DOWN ON HER GOD!! DO IT!
Lynda thank you. One of the tip I learned the hard way. Got in the car without cooling it down and I almost passed out.
Tony and Darcy humidity dropped a bit but still no rain.
Bill I wish I could bottle it up and send it to you. :)
Mary we are just not use to this especially so early, I just want it to go away.
Diane trust me I am trying :)
Kat I hope it will be just a memory soon.
Carrisa I think of being sprayed by the water and feeling the breeze when I think of the beach.
Sandy I know just what you mean, so here is a picture just for you.
Karen that would be dangerous I would pass out from the humidity.
George I will welcome the rain, however the lawn looks hopeless :)
Debra I know just what you mean, last year this time all it did was rain, everyone was asking what happened to the summer. What a difference a year make.
Steve these shots are of a pond on a large parcel of land I had listed and sold.
Steve I think refreshed would be just fine.
Greg thank you you are too funny.
Beautiful! And amazing that you're in New York. It looks just like a scene from Florida =)
Water is a staple for me in the desert southwest. I would also add it is good to apply sunscreen when you are getting dressed in the AM!
That looks so refreshing!! ready to jump on in Jennifer! :)
Jennifer - I gotta love those cool looking water scenes! It's very hot here in Sacramento today! I'd like to merge right into that view:-)
