My Photo made it to Schmap
A couple weeks ago I logged into my Flickr account and found a message informing me that one of my NYC photo made it to the list of photos under consideration for the latest edition of Schmap NY
Yesterday I logged on and this time the message was that my photo had indeed made the tenth edition of the map. In the snapshot below my photo is in the upper left hand corner.
So what is Schmap? it is an on-line service with photos, maps and virtual tours that can give you a fairly good idea of many destinations around the globe. According to the information on their site over 90 millions Schmap have been down loaded. The information can also be downloaded on the Iphone or Nokia.
So next time you are planning a trip to a major city make sure to check out Schmap.
Another reminder also to support the creative commons on Flickr so others can use your photos with permission.

Jenn, is that because you use Flickr to upload all of your photos? Hmmm....I might have to upload all of my neighborhood shots into Flickr now...
Congratulations on getting into Schmap! Awesome ...
Awesome..good for you...
Congratulations, Jennifer! That's awesome! Of course, you take great photos, so I am not surprised! :-)
Very informative post Jennifer! I hadn't even heard of Schmap - so that shows you how informative it was:-)
Jennifer, Congratulations on having your photo chosen. I have a feeling that it is the first of many :)
I have never heard of Schmap and I don't know a thing about Flickr. Thanks for the reminder that I need to learn about these tools. Congrats on getting your picture chosen.
William - This request came from Flickr but I have had other request to use a photo directly from my blog post. Using Flickr is a good things, Google also pick up the photos. I use the map function to show where the photo were taken. this is helpful to the viewers. Also use of creative commons is the way to go.
Dinah thank you.
Mary Lou thank you too.
Marney It was a pleasant surprise when I was first asked.
Mryl- Schmap is a rather interesting site and what I like most, is that it is gives you a good feel for a city you had never visited before.
George I love taking and sharing my photos. I have had some funny request. The surprising thing is; most of time the photos that draws the most interest are not the ones I expected to.
Dr. Stacey there is so much to keep up with, I am sure you will get around to Flickr let me know if I can be of help.
Congrats Jennifer! Jane Peters from LA had one of her pics from her trip to Las Vegas added to Schmap. It's a great demonstration of the potential reach that our online content has.
Well, I guess I join the rank of others who need to learn a little more about this. Congrats!
Hi Jennifer,
Kuddos to you! Thanks for the heads up on this, I've never heard of it before now.
Jennifer, congrats! That's super fabulous to get that recognition. :D
John That is so true you never know where your content might show up. This was a pleasant surprise.

Jennifer,
this is my first time that I heard about this service, you always share great information ! keep the good work ! :)
That happened to me once too - with some pictures of Paia. It's funny because as soon as they used one of them, that store went out of business, so I let them know.
Jennifer I have heard of Flickr. But I have never heard of Schmap. Another tool that I have to check out. Thanks for sharing. Great post.
