Wordless Wednesday - Lady and her Dog A Statue at Mills Mansion Staatsburgh NY

Wordless Wednesday  - Lady and her Dog A Statue at Mills Mansion Staatsburgh NY

A couple months ago I was taking a stroll on the grounds of the Mills Mansion a historic site in Staatsburgh NY when I ran across this statue of a lady and her dog.  This statue is perched high above the Hudson River and if only she could talk I am sure there would be much to tell.

Statue

Jennifer, it's cool enough to have a statue made of you when you're a human, but what an honor for the dog!

Jennifer, that is a very tall statute, is the dog a dobberman, cant make it out. As Patricia stated, nice honor esp for the dog.

Pat I agree.  I need to do some research to see if the dog depicted was the type of dogs this family had for pets.

Rebecca it is cool.  Don't know the type of dog ,my knowledge is poor in this area.

In my imagination, she is the lady of the house, and he is her faithful companion.... :)

How nice to have the pet honored as well as the lady.

Jennifer, I don't think that I have seen another statue like that.  Do you know why they honored the lady and the dog together?

Jennifer - That's a beautiful and very unsual statue!  It is pretty neat to stand and wonder what stories those monuments could tell.  Especially those that have stood any amount of time at all.

This is interesting, Jennifer. I wonder why someone honored this woman and her dog by making a statue?  If you get more info, let me know.

Debi that was my thought too.

Marlene - I too found it interesting.

George I have no idea, it is my hope some who knows the answer will give me a call.

Myrl it was a well done statue, I like the expression on the dog's face.  Yes if only they could talk :)

What an awesome statue Jennifer, look how somehow they captured the feelings the dog must have for its owner!  As George said it would be nice to know what the statue is all about.
