Jean Hasbrouck House On Huguenot Street In New Paltz NY
The Jean Hasbrouck house is the first of the historical house you will see if you approach Huguenot street from North Front street.
According to the historical marker in front of the house it was built around 1712 but some further research now points toward the 1720's. If that was the case, then Jean never lived in the house since he died in 1714, so the house was probably built by the son.
Today the Jean Hasbrouck house is also called the Memorial House and is now home to a museum about the Huguenot settlement as well as the Huguenot Historical society.

If you plan to visit the Mid-Hudson Valley this year, stopping by The Jean Hasbrouck House as well as the rest of Huguenot Street would be time well spent.

Hi Jennifer... what a wonderful house! I can almost feel the history just looking at the pictures!
Steve the entire street feels that way, I know this is a place you would appreciate. Come visit :)
Jennifer now that is an old house. It does look like it is in ruff shape and could stand a little TLC
Jennifer,
that is more great shots from this beauty home, keep the good work ! :) everybody can see history from this one !
Jennifer, Thank you for sharing the history of your area. I love the pictures.
Places like this are exactly why I want to visit the east coast. We just don't have homes this old here, heck the west wasn't really discovered until the mid 1800s.

I love these historical home posts! So very interesting. I agree with Todd, our western history doesn't go back nearly as far! Well, unless you go back to the Spaniards, but there isn't as much of that left....
Debi
George the entire street is packed with old homes it is wonderful to see.
Gita My pleasure.
Todd You would not be disappoint by a trip to the East, we do have lots of old homes and historic sites.
Debi and that is why I thought it would be a good idea to share some of these treasures,
Interesting old construction style. This brings a new meaning to the saying this is a rock solid home. Thanks for the history from your area.
