Historic homes on Huguenot Street in New Paltz NY
Huguenot street is a place where it appears as if time stood still. It is really amazing to see six historic homes still standing on the same street. Built in the late 1600's these are some of the oldest homes around. Today I will feature one of the six homes.

Huguenot street is a National Historic Landmark. The street has been lived on since 1677 when it was founded by 12 protestant families who were refugees from France.

I love historic streets and historic architecture like this. A very nice presentation.
Wow, those take you back in time.......1698's? Amazing - beautiful shots Jennifer!
Great photos, Jennifer. These hit on two of my favorite things: history and architecture.
You folks back east have us in the west seriously beat! When I see an old 1800's homestead, I think Wow! But back there, you have some REAL history! I have really enjoyed my visits to see family in MA - I can't wait to get out and explore when I'm there.
Debi
Jennifer--Looks like very interesting places to visit...nice pictures.
Jennifer~
Like Joan, I am so attracted to historical neighborhoods and streets. i am not sure I ever have seen a street (except her in your amazing photos) that has been lived on since 1677!!! WOW!
Hi Jennifer... Great pictures! I have always loved historic old homes!
Jennifer we have several older houses around here, but I have never been in any as old as those you have posted here. I am sure that it is a nice experience to tour them.
Hi Jennifer,
Great photos, what an interesting place to live!
Jennifer,
Great series of photos. Historic preservation is neat, and those are some very old homes. :)
Steve
Jennifer,
Nice place to know about it and great pictures as always, you are always taking nice shots, keep the good work ! :)
Jennifer, how beautiful. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of them! Do they do tours of the inside ever?
Jennifer, Thanks for sharing. The cellar sounds interesting. Hope to see more pictures of historic homes.
Such historic homes, its something that is so great about the East Coast, there is so much history.
Hi Jennifer, As I was looking though your photo collection of the Bevier house, I was taken with the contradiction of the electrical wires surrounding the house, since there weren't any back when the home originated. A very nice presentation.
Jennifer, it is great to have a historic district like that! I love that homes have been preserved like that! Great photos!
Great shots Jennifer! New Paltz is such a great place!
Those are pretty sturdy signs!
New Paltz has Las Vegas beat by about 225 years. They must have built them quite well to endure 300 winters!
wow - I love history and we have some around here - but since I am on the west coast it is not nearly as old and cool as your area - thanks for sharing such treasures
Jennifer I am glad to see you reporting on historic properties - we hace so much richness on the east coast
Jennifer, we can just see the big skirts and bonnet hats as the ladies walked these streets, the horses clomping down the street.....what a different era.
Thanks you all for stopping by. Sorry I have not been around in a more timely manner,; like most of you I am very busy.
Joan you would have loved this street. I look forward to sharing photos on the other houses.
Liz hard to believe these houses are still , especially an entire street.
Heather looks like we have some things in common.
Debi that is true, this part of the country really have some awesome historic sites. Lots to see in MA.
Jennifer - Isn't it so amazing to be able to work and live in a place so rich in history?
Teri It truly is a nice place to visit.
JeanAnne It is usually to have a street that old with the original homes, so New Paltz is fortunate to have such a treasure.
Steve I find them so interestng and I always think about all the manual worked that was necessary to produce such masterpieces.
