Ever in the mood for a corn beef, reuben or pastrami sandwich? The Carnegie Deli ,a New York Landmark, is just the place to satisfy such a desire.
I know some of the attendees to RainChamp NYC are from out of town and would like to have that New York experience. Well, this is one of those landmarks.

Here is an example of a pastrami sandwich, as you can see the portions are very generous.

Every wall in the Carnegie Deli restaurant is covered with photos of famous and somewhat famous people, so you might find yourself trying to see how many famous people you can identify

After you have taken a look at these walls you will truly appreciate that the Carnegie Deli is a landmark known worldwide.

Jennifer, I love the deli's you have in New York. We just don't have Mom & Pop deli's here.
Jennifer - You went and did it now. I haven't had a pastrami sandwich in ages and now you've got me craving one! :)
Marchel it was so funny I look down and saw your comment, here I was thinking I was in draft mode. In NYC you get the real deli feeling.
Donna ---Sorry put it was oh so good, ....lol
Jennifer- yet another reason why New York is the capital of the world! Ann and I tried to eat there for lunch on our first date but the line was too long. People were stretched around the street and it was FREEZING out.
Jennifer...it is a great place with fun good food. Thanks for the pictures...
Phillip I know what you mean; and when you do get in you are sitting real real close to people you don't know . I find it to be a fun place not just because of the food but also because of the photos.
Pat - Thank you.
Hi Jennifer...If I make up to the Rain Camp any chance we can get over there? I'd sure love a Reuben.
Kate
Even before I saw the second picture I was thinking...pastrami. Hey, Jennifer, FedEx can get it to me. Pick me one up next time you are there!
Jennifer, I don't think I have ever had an East Coast type deli sandwich. That looked like a great sandwich that you pictured. How far from NYC are you? I think that is a great idea to highlight some great places to eat for those who visit NYC for the Rain Camp.
Kate that is a possibilty.
Gary I have never FedEx food before.......meat seems like a big leap for the first attempt.......lol
Bruce I am actually about 90 miles from the city. I agree that this is an opportunity to blog about interesting spots in the city.
Hi Jennifer...My mouth is beginning to water. If not, I know there are plenty of excellent places to eat in New York. Food is never a problem there.
Kate
Kate I hope we get a chance to get away, this all depends on how tight the schedule of events is.
Jennifer, what a wonderful post about a local eatery with character! Of course, now my mouth is watering.
I think this is a great place to get a real "corned beef" sandwhich.. Boy am I hungry now... and it's time for nighty nite.
Hi Jenn,
Loved your photos, I was there this time last year. And you're so right about the portions, easy to share with another. What I love is when they "suggest" what you should try, it always works for me. Thanks for the fun photos.
Jennifer,
I have seen this one profiled on TV. Certainly sounds like a place to visit - if you're hungry. :)
Steve
THIS does it...I am coming to NYC! and I am going to have some major veggie sub...THX for the photo, Jennifer
Jennifer, this looks to be a real cool place. Thanks for the contribution to PBG...
Jennifer, I know the place well...it is wonderful! Right up there IMO with the Brooklyn Diner :)
Believe it or not I have never been to NY city! I really need to come and visit:)
Hi Jennifer, We wanted to go there when we were in NY, but that day the wait was too long, so we missed out. Too darn hungry to wait!
Debi
Jennifer, I love a good Deli, and that sandwich looks good enough to reach right through the screen and grab it :) :) :)
I will second that these are some delicious and humungous sandwiches, don't expect a lot of service as you will be quickly guided to your seat and asked to order quickly, but overall a definite must. Katz is also good, but a little harder to get to than centrally located Carnegie's.
Hope you're headed into a wonderful holiday season!
Best wishes!
Jennifer, those sandwiches loook tasty. If I get to NYC I will definitely stop in for a bite.
Maria you nailed it, the Carnegie Deli is a place with lots of character.
Joan you would not be disappointed.
Lynda One portion could feed my entire family; and you are so right about their suggestions.
Steve I can assure you, you would leave rather satisfied.
JaneAnne - No matter what you decide to eat, time spent in NYC is always fun.
Michael It is a cool place.
I am delighted to make a contribution the PBG group.
Carole I have never been to the Brooklyn Diner but if you say it is that is good enough for me.
Bill you are so so close, I assure you would have fun, touring NYC is a unique experience.
Debi - That is one drawback, the place is so good that it's reputation has spread worldwide.
Can you imagine having a business where people are just lining up around the block? simple awesome.
George and I would not have a problem handing it to you :)
Morgan Good to see you. I have not been to Katz, so I will keep it in mind for next time.
Ann - Thank you.
Guy the problem you will have is deciding on a sandwich. If you are with a group order several types and then share, trust me that would be easy to do.
Jennifer Carnegie Deli is one of our favorite stops on New York trips
Hi Jennifer... Carnegie Deli (along with the Stage Deli) is a favorite whenever I am back in NYC. The pictures are making my homesick (and hungry)!
