This was inspired by my recent open house visit on Sylvan Lake. Sylvan Lake is located in the town of Beekman in Southern Dutchess County NY. The lake was once home to a mining quarry so parts of the lake are very deep. It is a great place to go swimming, scuba diving, and fishing.
The day of my visit was a bit overcast, however, I was entertained by the birds, beautiful swans and a flock of smaller birds.
Along Sylvan Lake can also be found a very popular camp site, a great location because of the many attractions within a few miles.
You will also find a housing complex known as Chelsea Cove. Residents of this complex have direct access to the lake. I just checked the mutliple listing service and there are properties available ranging from $139,000-250,000.

Jennifer, What a fun place to have an open house. Sylvan Lake looks like it would be a fun place to live.
Hi Jennifer. I always enjoy your photos, thanks for posting. Soon there will be ice skaters there.
Aloha
Jennifer,
Very nice pictures, the lake looks so calm and it seems to be a great spot to relax with a good book and watch the birds go by, or invite a few friends for a great picnic.
Love photos.. and what a beautiful lake. I would think it would be so nice to live nearby and watch nature.
Love the tree hanging into the water in the second shot, Jennifer - nicely frames the birds.
Debi
LOVE the swans!! Nice pictures, Jennifer.
Hi Jennifer - It;s a lovely place and even prettier in the summer months. Was your open house in Chelsea Cove?
Jennifer, These are beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing. It is such a lovely place.
Jennifer Sylvan Lake looks beautiful! I would love to live on a lake someday.
Jennifer, to live on a lake at that price is amazing to me.
Beautiful lake and photos.
Thanks for sharing these additional photos with us Jennifer. It shows off the beauty that surrounds the open house listing that you visited. I like the hills and hardwoods on the opposite shore! My husband would love the fishing!
Jennifer, I love lakes, but you can tell that winter is starting to set in. It looks cold :)
Marchel - It is a lovely setting.
Richard - I am trying to ignore the fact the snow and ice could just be around the corner....lol
Dee - That was exactly what I thought.
Joan the people who live nearby love having the lake and the various recreational opportunities it offers.
Debi Thank you, I have many shots with trees hanging, I think I like the effect.
Karen - Thank you, it was a treat seeing the swans.
Carol - Yes it is beautiful in the summer. I was an attendee at the open house a lovely log home overlooking the lake...priced over $600,000
Gita - Thank you.
Bill there is something to be said about living on a lake. Here is hoping your dream comes a reality.
Missy Thanks for bringing up the point about the price, yes there were over 10 properties for sale, these were condos and townhouses. The open house I was at was a log home priced over $600,000, I suspect this is more in line with what you are use to.
Sharon It was a real treat for me because I don't see too many lakes in my marketplace. I am sure your husband would have a great time.
George I agree, it was an overcast fall day. I have to revisit for pictures in the summer.....the only problem people will get in the way......lol
Jennifer, very beautiful photos and a gorgeous place to live! Sylvan lake is very beautiful area!
Jennifer, another beautiful setting. The prices seem really reasonable for being waterfront homes.
Nice. lake front property would be nice. One day I will defintely have to cjeck out your area of New York!
You do get around.... and we get to discover new places through you... enjoyed these!
Very nice lake, and some nice properties, too. Of course, birds always help, especially swans.
