Countless reasons to visit Dutchess County New York.
This time of year my son and I look forward to picking berries and right in my backyard I can get blackberries. I was going to Westchester on Tuesday and decided to bring blueberries for a relative so I went down the street to the local pick your own farm.
Greig's Farm has been around for many decades and people have come from as far as New York City to pick berries during the summer months. In June strawberries are available. Following the strawberries are the blueberries in early July. Later in the season apples and raspberries become ripe for picking.
You may wonder why take a trip in the country to pick berries. Well for one thing, there are many places nearby to check out. Local wineries in the area include Alison Winery in Red Hook and many other wineries throughout Dutchess County. Or you could visit the many old historic mansion such as Vanderbilt, Montgomery Place, or FDR Library.
When driving down a country road you never know what you might see. On my way to check on a property my client is buying I ran across this lovely scene.

So make sure to include the Midhudson area in your vacation plan, you won't regret it.
