Speechless Sunday-Red Sumac
A few days ago I had to be present at one of my listings for a showing. I personally like to give the buyer's agent space so I stayed outside during the showing. I walked around the yard and took a few pictures but then I got bored until a bit of red in the bushes caught my eye. Upon closer examination I identified it as Red Sumac. Do you know why it is call Red Sumac? like most people you are thinking it is because of the fruit; that is not the case, the name is related to how the leaves turn bright red in the fall ahead of other trees.
One of the theories as to how the town of Red Hook NY got its name had to do with a land formation in the shape of a hook and in the fall, when the settlers landed there, it was covered with Red Sumac .
Still waiting to see if a sale results from that showing.
