The 162nd Dutchess County fair began on Tuesday August 21st. The first day was not so great because of bad weather but since then it has gotten progressively better.
I had not gone to the Fair in years but decided to go with my son today, and we certainly had a great time. In the past we always attended on the weekend because of work schedule, now I realise we would have had a much better time going during the week since it is less crowded then.
There was so much to see and I made sure to see as much as possible in 3 hours. First we had lunch, there was so much to choose from but we both decided on Gyros.
Next we moved over to the machines exhibition. Here we saw some live demonstration. The man on the crusher seem to have been a favorite of the crowd maybe it was the blue jean overalls.
We were very fascinated by a water mill which was built by Hugo Gardino of Ghent New York. This was a replica of a water mill that was in used around 300 BC, and would have been the type of equipment owned by a Mongolian king.
There was so much to see in this section, here are some highlights.
We could not wait to get to this next section.
The Fair is such a great time for families to spend time together. It was nice to see the grandparents with the grandchildren.
It was such a good feeling to pass by the rides without stopping. I still have memories of spending hours in this section. Yes ! this is now history.
Time to leave but I can't find my car and this is why.
The fair is certainly a wonderful Hudson Valley event. It is also a great economic boost for the Rhinebeck restaurants motels and inns.
It is not too late there are still three days left, this is a great way to spend the weekend. I had a great time just spending 3 hours, just imagine what fun you could have if you spend the day
