Speechless Sunday |Misty Morning

Misty Morning

I was on my way  to put signs up on a parcel of land I had listed when I ran across the morning mist.  There is always something intriguing about going through the mist, and down this country road there was much to see. When I came to this barn with the beautiful landscape behind it I just had to stop and take a shot, this was my favorite scene of that misty morning.

Speechless Sunday| How I long for the good old days

Brick Housefor the good old days

Speechless Sunday| How I long for the good old days

For years I have passed this Hudson NY old brick house, I knew it was old by the type of brick as well as the old tin roof. I suspect in the good old days it was probably th residence of someone with a bit of money. Okay I don't know the real story I just made that up :)

What I do know is that it was there before the cement factory. To the left of the house is an overpass which went directly to the cement factory, however, once the factory came about the old brick house no longer serviced the purpose of a residence.

This home certainly long for the good old days.

Wordless Wednesday|All alone

Wordless Wednesday|All Alone

I saw this silo on my way back from a closing yesterday, and it got my attention because it was all alone in a field. I suspect at one time it was once surrounded by other buildings, and grains and feed was stored there.

Now it stands all alone in this field with just weeds, and invasive vines around.

Hopefully in business you are not standing alone but rather surrounding yourself with a network. I suspect for members of ActiveRain standing alone is not an option.

Speechless Sunday|The Outhouse

Living in the Hudson Valley I run across buildings from other periods.   Over the years of have seen a variety of outhouses.  Some were ornate and other were just plain.

The one in the photography was on the grounds of Cedar Grove one of the many Historic sites to be found in the area.  I must say the colors certainly make you take a second look,

The blue radish?

Today was the Red Hook Winter Market but I knew I could not linger long because I had a client coming to town and we had a few houses to look at in Red Hook.

I stopped at the market just as it opened and I had only fifteen
minutes to spare. I found the items I wanted and then decided I would
buy an item I had never purchased before. I took up a crusty, bluish
colored vegetable and I thought I was told it was a blue radish.
Since I was in such a rush, I'm not certain. So, tonight I thought I
would look up Blue radish recipes but all I could find was recipes with
radishes but the blue in the recipe was blue cheese.

By the way, my showing appointment went well and my client and I now
have a clearer picture about the type of property that will work for
him.

Before I go can anyone tell me what this really is?

What can 25 cents buy you today? | Wordless Wednesday

Times have changed.  Can you believe how far you could stretch 25 cents years ago?  Now you probably can't buy a stick of gum for that sum.

The photo references the Rhinebeck Hotel which was later renamed to the Beekman Arms, the oldest continously operated Inn in the country.

Looks like back when the hotel was called the Rhinebeck Hotel your horse could have a good meal or a real comfortable place to spend the night for only 25 cents.

So seriously, what can you buy with 25 cents these days?
