Do you make the effort to engage young home-buyers?
Many home-buyers are families with young children and sometimes they come along on the showing appointment ; so do you engage young home-buyers?
This morning when I opened my email I was notified that Helpful Hannah had posted a new video. A video showing how she took the time to engage even a young homebuyer 
Do you think how children feel about a home have any sort of influence on the decision making of buying a particular home? I thing it does, I have had parents pass on a home because the children were not excited about it.
On the other hand I have had parents ready to make an offer because of the enthusiasm of the children. So do you make the effort to engage these young home-buyers? I do, and here is an example of how you could do this:
- I sometime asked a child what he or she would like in the new home. Sometimes the answer is as simple ask I would like my own room.
- Then I would say, I bet you would like to have it painted in your favorite color, and by the way what is your favorite color?
- During the showing process I would ask; so of the four bedroom which one would you like to make your bedroom? of course pointing out that mom and dad would probably want the master bedroom.
- Depending on the personality of the child I might ask; so where do you think the bed should go? and if the child is carrying a stuff animal I would find out the name of the toy and then ask where the toy would sleep.
- The backyard is also a great place for getting a child engaged, ask a question such as; do you see a spot for a play set?
Keep in mind that personality differs and for some more than one question might be one too many.
So next time you are working with a family make sure to engage each member even the youngest because their votes does count in the buying process.
