Maple Leaf|Speechless Sunday

                                                                       Maple Leaf

Mape Leaf

I was at a home inspection Saturday evening in Poughkeepsie NY and the homeowner was outside raking.  I went outside to ask a question and suddenly noticed how beautiful the leaves were.  The Maple leaves were the largest I have seen so I picked up a few.  In the frame above is a Maple Leaf I gathered.

If you read my blog you know that I find delight in the small things.  Yes, even the leaves are wonderfully made and this Maple Leaf is no exception.

Speechless Sunday|Conductor in training

Conductor

We were waiting for the sightseeing train to take off, and I was looking out the window when I noticed this precious scene.   I love the works of Norman Rockwell and this sure looks like something he might have painted.

One thing I can say about the trainee he is taking the job serious.

Speechless Sunday|No Fingers and toes and you cross the Atlantic in a boat?

I don't know how much I would accomplished without fingers and toes.  On a recent trip to Gloucester MA I came across this plaque which left me speechless.

A certain Captain Blackburn took not one but two trips across the Atlantic although he had no fingers and toes.  I found this such an inspirational story.

Would you cross the Atlantic in a boat if you had no fingers and toes?

Speechless Sunday-Things

Things for sale

Recently I took a three day trip with my husband. We love to sightsee and take pictures ; as you can see I even took a picture of him taking pictures.

We never fail to stumble up on a different sort of a  place with things for sale, a rather eclectic collection of things in this case, and we tried to make sense of it all.

You can see the display was very colorful and photo worthy.

Speechless Sunday-Kayaking Dog

Kayaking dog

I spent the last few days in lovely Gloucester MA . This was my first opportunity this year to get to the ocean.  I even had a fleeting thought of getting on one of those whale watching boats but when I was told it would be a four hour trip I changed my mind.

There were so many wonderful moments but one that really brought the bigest smile to my face was the Kayaking dog.  He seems so at home in the kayak and I was pleased to see he even wore his life jacket.

So I stood and watched this Kayaking dog until he and his human companion paddled away.

The weather was perfect, lots of sun and comfortable temperatures so wherever he went I am sure it was a good trip.

Speechless Sunday July 24, 2011:Last bloom before the heatwave

I was happy admiring this orange colored bloom and then the heatwave struck. Yes, this was my last bloom; now the garden beds are dry. I tried watering, but, it was a scorcher like I have never seen and the plants wilted.  Will the flowers come out to play again? Or, is this going to be the shortest blooming season I have seen in a while?  In that case, I had better enjoy the last bloom just before the heatwave.

Speechless Sunday- Evening sky over Red Hook NY

Today was rather hectic,  however on my way home I enjoyed the evening sky over Red Hook NY.  The Catskill Mountain as a backdrop  and the open field certainly completed the scene.

So no matter how crazy our days might get, there is always a moment or a scene to provide a pleasant distraction; if only for a few moments.

Have a great week.

Speechless Sunday-A small change can make a big difference

A small change can make a big difference.  During the spring the periwinkle ground cover pops up and the carpet of green is lovely.  This scene is further enhanced when the little blue-violet flowers covers the greenery.

The same is true in the case of a home, a small change can make a difference.  Sometimes we get bored with the color of a certain room, applying a fresh coat of paint will make a big difference.   This is also true if you are selling your home; changing paint colors could mean more money in your pocket.Periwinkle flower

Speechless Sunday-Do Not Disturb

Recently I was looking at my plants when I noticed a spider sitting on one of my sedum.  Unfortunately for him he forgot to put out the DO Not Disturb sign. So, I took out my camera and started taking a couple of shots.  He was not pleased and so quickly scurried away.

I suppose he was trespassing by landing on my plant, so, I was in the clear:)

Speechless Sunday-One of the many reasons I love Spring

There are so many reasons why spring is special.  Today while at my Rhinebeck open house I found one such reason.  Sitting on the deck I could see and hear the birds chirping, and looking  around I saw this rather stunning flower.   I ran for the camera and I was please to see it looked as good in the photo.

What a stunning flower!
