Fhoto Friday-The Lone Silo

The Lone Silo

I saw this Lone Silo a couple months ago on my way back from Stockbridge MA heading towards Lakeville CT.  I am always drawn to a structure like this, and I try to picture what the area might have been like before the Lone Silo was the only thing left on the landscape.

It is very obvious that agriculture was a much bigger industry in the region than it is now . This silo for example  would  have be stocked with grains to feed the animals through the winter.

Many have recycled these old silos.   I know of what case in my market where a home owner converted the silo into a master suite which had spectacular mountain views.

The farm silo an artifact of a time passed comes in difference size and shapes.

Silo

So what have been done with the abandoned silos that might dot the landscape in your area?
