Speechless Sunday | What if bleeding hearts came in purple?

I was sitting here playing with a photo of a bleeding heart, I changed the color to black and white and then to purple. I liked the way the purple looked, but then I had this question, would it still be a bleeding heart?
I noticed there are white bleeding hearts so why not purple.

Time for a picnic with a view or is it?

Time for a picnic with a view, or is it?  I was visiting someone whose house is perched on the top of a hill, and had spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains.  Yes, there are so many scenic spots in the Hudson Valley.

On my way down the hill I passed this picnic table, and I couldn't help noticing the wonderful view.  Wow! it must be time for a picnic with an awesome view.  I reminded myself that it was still March, and usually the weather is cold and could even be snowy, but today it was about 70 degrees. However, I was missing that all important item, the picnic basket which would have made this day perfect.

It is that time again spring ahead!

Yes, it is that time again, time to spring ahead.  Come Sunday we will lose an hour, so, it is best to change your clocks before you head off to sleep tonight.

Losing an hour is not all bad. Think of it this way, you will have more daylight and maybe just enough time to do some walking like you promised yourself you would do for months now.

Now is also a good time to make sure all the safety devices in the home are functioning properly.

If you are like me you are eargerly anticipating spring, thinking of what flowers and plants will grace the garden this year.

Then, for you homeowners thinking of selling, use that extra daylight to improve your landscaping. Curb appeal goes a long way in getting your home sold.

Speechless Sunday | Crying out for help

Crying out for help

Today I had my hands filled with towels as I headed for the laundry room.  On the way I kicked over a plant,  what bad timing.  I really did not have the time for the mess.  There was dirt all over the floor and in the rug.  Well I couldn't just leave it, so I dropped the laundry and bend over to take a closer look.  I discovered that the plant was badly in need of water and had outgrown the pot.

Oh! maybe I was tripped by the plant it was crying out for help.

Tips to help you escape a winter fire

Tips to help you escape a winter fire

Winter fires are a common occurrence. This year we have heard of several horrific house fires. So what steps can you take to escape a winter fire?

It would be best not to have the fire in the first place, but accidents do happen, so it be wise to be prepared just in case.

  • Install smoke detectors so you would be alerted of a fire, and have time to escape.
  • Avoid clutter in the house especially in hallways and in front of windows and doors.
  • If you live in a two story house or higher make sure to get a personal fire escape ladders, you can pick one up for less than $30.

Stressed out? take a minute to laugh

These quote were taken from "Laugh in the Law Hee-Haw published in 1939.   I happen to have these old clippings.

1.According to an old statute in Virginia the third failure to attend church on Sunday was punishable by death.  A bit harsh :)

2.  A Massachusetts ordinance required that all dogs should have their hind legs tied during the month of April.  Why :)

3.  In Boston it was illegal to keep a dog more than 10 inches in height.

4 In Ohio it was unlawful to ride a jackass at the rate of more than 6 miles an hour.  Was the jackass consulted :)

I laughed, I hope you will too.

Have a good Laugh

Have a good laugh  HeeHaw

I do hope you will have a good laugh after reading these State Codes and Town Statutes.  These came from the 1932  Sunday Mirror

Pennsylvania has a law prohibiting singing in the bathtub

Winchester, Mass - A young girl may not be employed to dance on a tight rope - except in a church

Ball game players in Portsmouth Ohio, were included with vagrants, beggars, thieves and other suspicious characters and would be subject to fines or imprisonment or both

In Corvallis Oregon young girls were prohibited from drinking coffee at evening meal except on Friday and Saturday

Traveling more than 20 miles to church was illegal in NY

Traveling anywhere in Massachusetts on Sunday was illegal except for charity.
